What's for dinner? Sweet Potatoes!

I made Addison sweet potatoes yesterday for dinner. This was the first 'solid' she's had other than the occasional oatmeal. At first she wasn't sure about the taste, but never spit it out. She had the same for lunch today & did great! Here's a video! New pics have also been added to Curran Pics (click to the right).

1/2 way to a year

Addison turned 6 months old last Friday! Wow - we are half way to ONE YEAR! Friday we went to Baton Rouge for the game. Addison & I just tailgated with a friend & her little girl while everyone else went to the game. It was a beautiful weekend. Addison did great considering her environment. She was a little tiger :)

This morning was Addy's 6 month check-up. She got FIVE shots! It would have only been 4, but we went ahead & got the flu shot too. We go back in one month to get the 2nd round of the flu shot. It's done in 2 parts for babies. Poor Addy was so upset! It was heartbreaking. Especially after only getting 2 shots at the 4 months visit. The nurse said that whoever regulates vaccinations in Texas doesn't allow for them to be combined, unlike Louisiana. Had I known that it may have been worth it to take a trip home :) Here are the 6 month stats: 16lbs 2oz, 26 inches, 16 1/2 inches head diameter. Dr. Braye said she is healthy & doing great. Addy will likely have her 2 botton teeth by Thanksgiving, as well as, crawling all over the place. Dr. Braye seemed to frown upon co-sleeping and commented that there had been 3 deaths in the past year due to a parent rolling on top of baby or suffocating by a pillow/blanket. I would never say 'that couldn't happen to us', but I do take every precaution possible & make our bed safe for her.

I had considered weaning this month & starting formula, but the dr said this was the worst time of year to stop due to flu/cold season. He encouraged me to reconsider without judging & left the final decision up to me. After listening to him & thinking more about it, I think I will continue to nurse Addy longer. Dr. Braye recommended to nurse at least through March (unless we have a biter). I guess the only reason I was going to stop now was that 6 months seemed like the average time to wean.

We talked about separation anxiety hell & I let him know that I was in it right now! He said it's typically more common in breastfed babies & will start to go away as Addy learns to scoot/crawl & walk. It's really been hard, but I just keep reminding myself that it will pass.

Addison is sitting with little help now. It's so funny to see her sitting like a big girl! She can even scoot on her back all over the place. Every single day she does something new that just amazes me. I think that's it for now! This blog is long enough!

6 month pics

Today, Karen & I took Addison to Sears for her 6 month pictures. I was very nervous, since this was the first time using a department store for her pictures. They turned out fantastic! I just uploaded a ton to Dropshots (click on Curran Pics to the right)!

Catching Up

I tried to keep a list of everything to blog about since we moved & didn't get Internet until Monday! So here we go: 9/24 - Addy turned 5 months old 9/26 - Moving Day Moving day was hectic & it was a very long day. We finally left Monroe around 7 p.m. (goal was to leave by 4) 9/29 - Addy started eating oatmeal She wasn't sure about the first 3 bites, but after we got that out of the way - she was ready! Right now she is still exclusively breastfed & gets oatmeal daily.

10/11 - Addy found her feet! I kept wondering when this would happen!
10/12 - We had our first trip to Walmart. Addison was wonderful. She loved watching everyone & looking at everything.

I just made Addison's 6 month dr appointment. Here in Texas the vaccinations are given in the dr office & covered by insurance. So, no need for a second appointment somewhere else! In Louisiana, the state pays for vaccinations & that is why they aren't given in the dr office. You have to go to Shots for Tots or the health unit.

Okay, I think that is it for now! **new pics have been added to Dropshots - click on Curran Pics to the right**

The Sweetest Sound

is Addison laughing!

Addison is rolling both ways now! She has been rolling from tummy-to-back for a couple of months, but just this week started rolling back-to-tummy! I haven't got it on video just yet!

My first day no longer employed by Chase

Now I am employed by Addison Claire Curran. When I woke this morning I just laid there thinking about not working at Chase anymore. For 7 years Chase has been my second home & I've met some of my best friends there. Not working at Chase will be a huge adjustment for me, but I know that Addison will make this transition easy for me. I am very excited about the future and this next phase of my life. All that matters now is that I give my family 110% of my best!

I know, I know - I'm a blog slacker!

This morning we went to Vicksburg. Addy was such a good baby all the way there & all the way home. BTW - why is every gas station in Monroe out of GAS?? We finally found one, but this is crazy! Here are a couple of pics from the trip:

This evening we had one last gathering before Blake & I move to Texas. It was a good time with good friends & good food. I am going to miss everyone like crazy, but from the looks of it, we will be back home a lot during hurricane season anyway :) Thanks to all of you that made it! Here are a couple of pics:

This card from Shari made me cry as soon as I took it out of the envelope!
