First Trip to the Dentist

Addison did great! She even let the hygenist brush her teeth & then let the dr see them. He said everything looks great & we'll go back in 6 months. The only gripe I have is that we had to wait 30 minutes! When you have a toddler, time is very important & 30 minutes is a BIG deal. I was actually standing at the window waiting on the receptionist when the hygenist called us back. That receptionist got lucky today :) I still mentioned the wait time to the hygenist...

Believe it or not....

Let me preface this by saying that I got exactly what I deserved!

Addison finished her lunch & it was time for a nap. I put her on the couch to change her diaper & realized the ointment was in the bathroom. Usually, I put a dab on her before naps & bedtime. So, I stand her on the floor without a diaper & run to the bathroom to get the ointment. She follows behind me & stopped at the door & said mama. I looked over & of course, she peed on her socks, new tennis shoes & the floor! UGH! My fault, I know. I run & pick her up & stick her in the tub. After taking her shoes, socks & clothes off I go to clean the floor. After I got the floor cleaned up I went to the sink to wash my hands before bathing her. LOW & BEHOLD I look over at her & she is standing up with her hands on the side of the tub...............making 'THAT' face. I'm thinking there is NO WAY she is going to poop in the tub AFTER peeing on the floor! I rush over & I'm too late. Yes, my sweet angel pooped in the tub. Again, my fault, I know.

So, how was your day? LOL

15 month appt

Our little girl will be 15 months old tomorrow! We went for her 15 month check-up & shots today. Here are her stats: 22.9lbs, 30 1/2 inches, 18 1/4 head. She is still average on all the charts! After the check-up the mean lady with the needles came in to give the shots :( BOOO Someone had mentioned EMLA cream to numb the injection site, but our dr wouldn't approve it. Addison did fine as usual. She screamed her head off for 5 seconds & as soon as I picked her up she was fine. Today she got DTaP, Hib(the shortage is over now) & Pneumococcal. When we were leaving she was walking behind me & stopped in the waiting room to play with the toys & other babies. I told her that I was going to get a Happy Meal & to come with me, but SHE JUST SMILED & WAVED BYE!!! Holy Moly! I was stunned. Everyone started laughing & I assured them that this was a RARE event!

It looks like Addison will have only 6 teeth a little longer. The dr saw no signs of any new teeth getting ready to come through the gums. I was almost certain she was getting her molars. The dr said those are the worse & take the longest to come through (up to 4 weeks). WTH is he smoking? Addison may be shipped off to Memaw's or Gram's when that time comes :)

Today is DAY 4 of napping in the crib & no bedtime bottle. She was asleep when we got home today & I moved her from the carseat to the crib without her making a peep! I didn't even get a chance to give her Tylenol for her shots.

Yesterday, we attempted to finger paint. It didn't go very well, so we will wait a couple of weeks & try again. Addison didn't like getting the paint on her hands & smearing it on the paper. I even tried painting her belly & she didn't like it. Next time I will take pics.

Bottles & Cribs

Yesterday, Addison took a 2 hour nap in her crib & she is napping in it again right now! I'm trying to get her used to sleeping solo since she will be taking naps at MDO (Mother's Day Out). I doubt they want to hold that precious angel while she sleeps :) The next phase will be to put her in the crib at bedtime. That may happen next week.

Last night she went to bed without a bottle/nursing for the first time ever! It was much easier than I expected & am very happy she did well. She still woke up around 3ish (bedtime is 8ish & wake up time is 8ish) & I gave her water in a sippy cup. Ten minutes later she was back asleep. This is all a work in progress & I hope it continues to go well for all of us :)

It seems like there was something else I wanted to share with you, but can't remember what it was! Until next time...

Backpack

Addy got a new backpack to take to MDO (Mother's Day Out). It's a little big, but she will grow into it.

I had to wash her PBK Chair cover yesterday & she kept going to stand/sit where the chair is supposed to be!

Catching Up

It's been so long since I've blogged...

We just got home after being in Louisiana for 2 weeks! The first week was spent at the lake with Blake's family & the next week me & Addy stayed with my parent while Blake came back to Texas.

The lake was awesome as always. There was one incident where Addy's pool was swept away by the wind & went downstream. Some people got it & pretended like it was theirs. Oh well, they must've needed it more than we did. Besides, it was the day before we left anyway! Here are some pics from the lake:

July is full of birthdays for our family! We had a wonderful dinner & everyone celebrated together!

While we were home we met Vasti, Ethan & Ben at the Jungle Gym. Vasti & I were pregnant together, had the same OB & always had our check-ups together. Addison is 5 days older than Ethan. We went home from the hospital the day after Ethan was born.

Here are a few older pics that I found on my mom's iPhone:

Have I mentioned there isn't ANYTHING to do in this town for a toddler? It's too hot to pull her in the wagon, too hot to play in the pool (unless it's before 10 a.m.), too hot to go to the park! Houston has a ton of things to do, but that's more than an hour away. Yesterday, we met friends at the mall play area. Not much to play with there. Just statues & things to climb on that Addy really isn't big enough for yet. I may just start planning a weekly trip to Houston with a friend & her baby. It would probably be worth it! I don't think I've ever been ready for summer to be over, but this heat is terrible!
