Chase rocks, Addy won & Tdap Vaccine

So, I've been seeing all the commercials about the new ATM deposit functionality & decided to give it a try! WOW just WOW! I walk in with my 2 checks that need to be deposited & in a flash I was done! You just slip the checks or cash in the slot & the money is deposited into your account! I am impressed :) Way to go Chase!

On another note -

Addy tied for 3rd place in the Picture of the Week contest on The Nest! The subject was 'sports' or something like that. Well, I used a pic of Addy in her LSU cheer dress with the tiger tail :) Congrats Addy & GEAUX TIGERS!

Blake & I were supposed to go to the CVS Minute Clinic today to get Tdap vaccines for whooping cough protection. Unfortunately, he isn't feeling well today, so we will have to go tomorrow. Dr. Braye said it's a good idea for the parents to be protected, but even more important for grandparents to be protected if they are around a baby. You can do your own research or ask your doctor to decide if you should get the vaccine booster Tdap.

Vaccine Information
Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis Vaccines

There are four combination vaccines used to prevent diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis: DTaP, Tdap, DT, and Td. Two of these (DTaP and DT) are given to children younger than 7 years of age, and two (Tdap and Td) are given to older children and adults.

Children should get 5 doses of DTaP, one dose at each of the following ages: 2, 4, 6, and 15-18 months and 4-6 years. DT does not contain pertussis, and is used as a substitute for DTaP for children who cannot tolerate pertussis vaccine.

Td is a tetanus-diphtheria vaccine given to adolescents and adults as a booster shot every 10 years, or after an exposure to tetanus under some circumstances. Tdap is similar to Td but also containing protection against pertussis. A single dose of Tdap is recommended for adolescents 11 or 12 years of age, or in place of one Td booster in older adolescents and adults age 19 through 64.

(Upper-case letters in these abbreviations denote full-strength doses of diphtheria (D) and tetanus (T) toxoids and pertussis (P) vaccine. Lower-case “d” and “p” denote reduced doses of diphtheria and pertussis used in the adolescent/adult-formulations. The “a” in DTaP and Tdap stands for “acellular,” meaning that the pertussis component contains only a part of the pertussis organism.)

As an adult, do I need the vaccine?
If you are 19 through 64 years old and have not previously received a dose of Tdap, a single dose of Tdap should replace a single dose of Td for booster immunization if the most recent tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine was received at least 10 years earlier.
Adults in close contact with an infant aged under 12 months who have not previously received Tdap should receive a dose of Tdap; an interval as short as 2 years since the most recent Td is suggested.
Healthcare personnel in hospitals and ambulatory care settings with direct patient contact who have not previously received Tdap should receive a dose of Tdap; an interval as short as 2 years since the most recent Td is recommended.

9 Month Well Visit

This morning I took Addy to see Dr. Braye for her 9 month well visit. She weighed in at a whopping 19lbs 1oz, 26 1/2 inches long & 17 1/4 head. The dr commented on her length since she has only grown about 1/2 inch since her last visit a couple of months ago. He said she is in the 25 percentile for length right now, but will probably have a growth spurt & catch up to average. Dr. Braye gave Addy a new vitamin with fluoride to take now that she has teeth & I am still nursing! He saw 2 on top & one on bottom that have come through the gums! We had a good visit.

THEN COMES THE BAD PART..... We had to go to the lab for blood work.

Oh.My.God.

They took blood from Addy's arm just like they do a BIG person! You know - they wrap the band around the upper arm, then try to find a vein, then fill up 3 tubes with blood! Well, I had to hold my angel while they 'tried' to find a vein then while her blood flowed VERY slowly into those freaking tubes! It was terrible, just terrible! I pray everything comes back normal, because I seriously can't go through this again. Now Addy is sleeping soundly after her long morning.

Pictures & Teeth

This morning I took Addy to have her 9 month pictures taken. When we got home I decided to take a few too. It's so hard to keep her still!

We are still in teething hell. She has a total of 4 coming through right now. I keep trying to get some pics, but... that's a joke!

Addy is 9 months old

My itty bitty baby turned 9 months old today! We go Tuesday for her 9 month well-visit & a hemoglobin test. I think she weighs around 20lbs, but we will know for sure when she gets weighed by the nurse.

I decided to do something a little different from the usual paper 'x months old' picture. This was an idea that I saw on the Nest (imagine that)!

She loves playing in the 'big' tub with all of the squirty sea creatures. I guess I should have thought ahead about where we were going to store all the sea creatures when we bought them. Today I ordered the Frog that sticks to the tub wall.

Hope it is everything I want it to be!

I know there is more that I need to blog about, but I am being summoned by this cute little girl...

Baby Dang has arrived

(I changed the title of this blog from 'Babies, babies, babies' after Casey read WAY more into it than she should have :) Love you Casey!!!!!

Thong aka Hong aka my favorite Asian had her baby boy late last night! Joshua arrived at 12:31 a.m & details are still sketchy :) Hong wasn't due for a couple more weeks. Her & my niece were both due around 2/12ish. Aimee still has her bun in the oven!

Congrats Thong & Jason

Shots of Patron for everyone

I will be back in a bit to post about our night of teething H-E-L-L!!!!!

Let's talk about teething for a minute. Addison is now getting two bottom & two top teeth ALL AT ONCE. I know the pain has to be killing her BECAUSE it is certainly killing me! WTH?? It's only temporary, it's only temporary, it's only temporary - repeat. She has also started expressing herself (loudly) when I take something away from her. I just have to step back & look at her to make sure this is MY baby! uh oh - it is!

I will be back later to post her 9 month pictures!

Our Trip to the Park

Today, I decided to take Addy to the park. The weather is just too nice to stay inside. There isn't much a 9 month old can do at the park other than swing & watch the other kids, but I think she enjoyed it. We strolled around & checked out all the cool things she will one day be big enough to play on & scare the hell out of me! It took her a few minutes to decide that she liked the swing, but then she LOVED it. Here are a few pics:

Sunday Blog Part II

Addy got some new goodies this weekend! Grams bought her some squeaky shoes & extra bows! The shoes have a little notch on top that will hold different color bows to match outfits.

Memaw bought her a new chair & she is already being brave by trying to stand up in it! We are really going to have to watch her around this chair!

Birthday Party

Addison had a great time at Maggie's birthday party yesterday. She made a couple of new friends & one that shares her birthday. Her name is Abigale & she was born 30 minutes after Addy. Abigale weighed 10lbs 6oz & was 23 inches long when she was born! Holy smokes! She was also born with 2 bottom teeth! The little girl only weighs 18lbs now & is SO much smaller than Addy. The mom was feeding Abigale cake & strawberries! Needless to Addy got nothing but a sip of water at the party :)
**Abigale is sitting to Addison's right - in the white shirt & khaki pants**

When it was time to go, Addy received a 'party favor'. It was a bottle of Cheerios. I've never heard of giving favors at birthday parties... I know about the favors at baby showers, wedding showers & receptions, etc - but didn't know about the birthday favors.

*Did I mention that every child at the party had a runny nose?*

We have a TOOTH!

Well, it's peaking through anyway! So far I can only feel one on the bottom, but haven't been able to get a picture yet. I've been giving her frozen grapes in the mesh feeder (remember, one of my favorite things), Motrin & teething tablets. She is doing great!

My niece, Aimee, is having a little boy in February & is trying to finish getting everything ready for his arrival. She picked out a pack n play at Target, but the Monroe store didn't have it in stock. Mom is in Houston right now, but there isn't one in stock there either. So, I checked our local Target yesterday & they only had one on display. I asked the sales associate to check & see if they had any in stock. She came back & said no, so I asked if I could buy the one on display, she said no. I then mentioned that I would just take a picture of it with my phone & go home to order it online. She tells me that I can't take a picture in the store & asked that I write down the item number, etc.
Me: "I don't have a pen & paper, do you?"
Target: "No"
Me: "Well?"
Target: "I guess I could go get one"
Me: "Okay!"
First of all, she is clueless about taking pictures in the store & if I would've had more time I would have stirred the pot, but didn't :) I have taken pictures of items in Target before & many other stores for that matter.

Anyway..... I get home & try to order the PNP at Target.com. Guess what??? That's right, it isn't available online at Target! Lucky for me, because I googled it & found it for $35 CHEAPER! Sweet!

I've Been Tagged

I've been tagged for a little game. You're supposed to pick your 4th folder, 4th picture. Of course, its Addison! Sitting pretty in her carseat playing with the jitter-critter.

I'm tagging Carol & Erin!

I have been such a blog slacker lately. Addison is very mobile now. Previously, I could give her a toy & she would stay put while playing. Now she doesn't sit still AT ALL. She is crawling everywhere & pulling up on everything. My nerves are shot from her learning to pull up. I am so afraid that she is going to hurt herself. I know, I know - she will eventually get hurt & there isn't much I can do about it! Today, we borrowed our neighbors walker, since we are thinking of buying one & the neighbor borrowed our stroller, since she is thinking about buying one! Addison isn't quite tall enough for the walker just yet. We even put it on the lowest setting. Oh well...

Addy has learned how to wave! That is all she wants to do now. I am also convinced that she says 'hey' when someone walks into a room!

My BFF Kristal Joy is getting married in June & has asked me to be her Matron of Honor. She is the L-A-S-T friend to get married (thank you Jesus)! I am so excited for her & Todd. It's been a long time coming!

A Couple of Firsts

Addison just got her very first Birthday Party invitation! She is very excited!

She also spent some time with daddy & watched a Duke game in her new basketball romper! I will try to get a better picture of the complete outfit next time.

SHE PULLED UP BY HERSELF!

We were sitting on the floor at the Crawl & Cruise Jungle toy & she grabbed the top piece & pulled herself to a STANDING position! I have been trying ever since to catch it on video, but no luck yet.

Today we went to Sam's & bought a package of the colored foam floor tiles. Our floors are all wood & get too cold for Addy to play. (Thanks to Casey for posting pics of her tiles & telling me where to find them)

Our 'Crappy' Day

It was really a great day, but messy!

Addison wore the cute outfit from Avery this morning. She looked like she was ready for the new year!

So, off we go to Beaumont (30 minutes away) for lunch at Chick fil A & shopping at the 'big' mall. We got to Chick fil A & while Blake was ordering, I cleaned a highchair for Addy. We LOVE Chick fil A! I wish there was one closer to our town :( Addy was doing great sitting in the highchair chewing on some toys, etc. Well, she started reaching for me, so I picked her up & gave her a toy. About 2 seconds after, I told Blake that Addy had a stinky, poopy diaper & needed changing. Before I could say anything else Blake informed me that there was POOP EVERYWHERE! The highchair, me, Addy, the floor.... I didn't know what to do. There was a clump on my leg, my sweater, up her back, on her pants, it was just EVERYWHERE. So, I tried to make it to the bathroom with Addy while hiding the blowout (which was impossible). Blake followed with the diaper bag. I wish this all could have been caught on video, because I was at a loss as to how to clean everything up in the tiny Chick fil A bathroom.

First, I took off my sweater (thank goodness I always wear a nursing tank), then proceeded to remove Addy's clothes that were FULL of poop. The whole time she is on the changing table (better than the floor I thought) freaking out. Finally, I pick her up & go over to the sink & pretty much put her under the faucet to wash her better. Then I began using a thousand paper towels to dry her when a lady walks in & the first thing she sees is Addy's tush! The lady was sweet & said a couple of things to Addy then went on to the bathroom. I could hear her snickering in the stall as I was talking to Addy & trying to clean up the blowout of the year! Of course, before we left the house I took the extra outfit OUT of the diaper bag. My thought process at the time was - we have never needed an extra outfit, so what are the odds of us needing one today! HAHA!

At last, we are ready to make a mad dash out of the bathroom & to the truck! A few people that saw us go in the bathroom & then come out half naked knew what happened! It was really a sight to behold! Blake & I debated on whether or not to just buy me & Addy a new outfit, but that would mean HE would have to go in the store & pick out our clothes alone, so that was a NO!

Instead, we drove back home & got cleaned up then went back!
