Confession

Okay, okay!  I'll fess up to this.  Our front door is the type with the large oval glass & in the early evening hours during this time of year the sun blares in & blinds me!  So, lately I've been putting a thick blanket over the door to block out the sun.  Well, yesterday Addy was watching cartoons & I went to put the blanket over the door (Blake was in the kitchen which is open to the living area & front door).  I look to make sure Addy & Buddy aren't by the door so I won't close up a finger or nose.  Nobody was around....  I go back to sit on the couch & I don't see Addy.... Off I go through the house looking for her.  While I was in the back, Blake HEARD HER CRYING & SAW HER silhouette through the blanket that was covering the front door!  MY BABY HAD SLIPPED OUT WHILE I WAS PUTTING UP THE BLANKET & I DIDN'T REALIZE IT!  If that wasn't bad enough, she was totally naked (we were taking a break from panties during our potty training)!  SAD, SAD, SAD!

Speaking of potty-training, here is our new favorite snack!  These fruit snacks aren't very healthy, BUT when I showed them to Addy she went to potty!  I know they say NOT to bribe, but rules are made to be broken & this method may work for us :)  LOL

My dad just got called up for jury duty.  If you are 70 or older then you are exempt from serving.  Well, wouldn't you know that he has to go SIX days before his 70th birthday.  He called & tried to get out of it, but it didn't work!  Just his luck!

I'm 94% pregnant!

I'm still trying to make pigtails out of the little bit of hair Addy has.  At my last ultrasound the tech kept saying how much hair she was able to see on baby Alyssa's head.  Well, I couldn't see it! 

37ish week check-up & Potty Training

My check-up was great this morning.  The NST was good & I'm making a little progress.  Dr is out of town again next week, so my next appt will be the week after at 39ish weeks!  My blood pressure is still good & so far there isn't any indication that we will have to induce.  Although, I know that can change in the blink of an eye.

Potty training is one step forward & two steps back.  It's day 3 & I don't see anything 'clicking' just yet.  One time she goes in the potty & the next she goes, well, wherever.  She may be getting confused by wearing diapers to nap & bed???  But, at this point I can't imagine putting her down with panties on & washing sheets 24/7!  OR could it be that if she does go down with panties on she will be less likely to mess the bed?

YAY!  Addy's BFF is finally home & they enjoyed spending some time together yesterday!

Today is the first day of serious potty-training for Addy!  Shouldn't there be a potty-training school or camp or person you can hire to do this sort of thing?  I'm sure it would be MUCH easier without having a huge belly when trying to clean up accidents off the floor :)  Tonight in my sleep I'll be saying 'do you need to go pee-pee?' LOL  It was a challenging day, but we survived!  I am breaking the rules & letting her sleep in a diaper tonight.  The 3 Day Potty Training Guide has a lot of great information, but I still feel a little modification is necessary for each individual child.  Tomorrow we will do it all over again!

Happy Father's Day

So, when you have 2 children do you get 2 presents for Father's Day/Mother's Day?  Blake is under the impression that you do (even though #2 is still in the womb)!  He just left to go find baseball cards for the 2nd time today.  Hmmm, who is this man & where is my husband?  LOL  At least he's bringing home a Golden Oreo Blizzard from Dairy Queen for me!

Addison has fully recovered from whatever virus she had last week.  She is such a delightful little girl.  I giggle ALL day at her (well, most of the day anyway!  After all, she IS TWO).  Today she was in her room playing at the kitchen & had 3 plates out.  She didn't know I was watching (that's the best time) & put aside each plate for 'dada', 'mama' & 'Addison'.  Then put food on each.  So sweet!  She also sings 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' ALL THE TIME NOW.  It goes something like this 'row, row boat stream, merrily dream'.  I'll be sure to catch it on video soon!  There are just so many things she's doing now that I can't keep up with.  What an amazing age!

My hospital bag is packed & ready to go.  The car seat base has been installed.  The pack n' play is setup.  The bouncer is setup.  Memaw bought us some itty bitty tiny diapers, new bottles/nipples, a couple of outfits & a few other things.  I'm so happy that we kept all of Addison's baby gear & clothes!  Alyssa will have her share of new stuff, but it's nice to have all of Addison's old stuff too!  Then as Alyssa outgrows her clothes we can pass them along to my niece for her new baby girl Arabella that will be here in October!

I'm feeling fine.  Just the typical complaints that come from being 37 weeks pregnant.  I was just thinking the other day how if I go past 38 weeks it will be a whole new experience for me.  I was induced at 38 weeks with Addison, so never got to go through those last 2 weeks.  I'm still hopeful that an induction won't be necessary this time.  Although it would be easier & more convenient...

Busy week

Last weekend Addison started running a temp & lost her appetite.  She displayed no other symptoms & wasn't fussy.  On Monday morning we went to see the pedi.  Strep test is negative, ears are clear, tonsils are good....nothing to indicate why she had a fever.  So, we were sent to the hospital for a rush CBC & dropped off a urine sample at our regular lab.  All blood work came back normal, so the pedi said it's viral & just has to run it's course.  I don't like fever - with or without symptoms!  

To add to my week I fell yesterday, so spent a good portion of the day in L&D!  I sat around after it happened contemplating whether or not to call the OB.  My elbow & butt took the fall, not my belly.  Finally, I decided to give the OB a call just to be safe.  The nurse assured me that baby is so protected inside that everything was probably fine, but anytime there is a fall, car accident, etc to go get checked at L&D.  She was right :)  Baby Alyssa is doing great!  My mind was put to rest after 3 hours of monitoring & an ultrasound.

**While at the hospital I learned that each time a baby is born 'Rock a Bye Baby' plays throughout the building.  How sweet is that!

Hopefully, the rest of the week & our weekend will be uneventful!

35 week check-up

Yesterday was my 35 week check-up.  Everything is looking great!  Blood pressure, baby Alyssa's heart beat, weight gain!  YAY!  OB is out of town next week, so my next visit will be in 2 weeks.  I'll start having NST's weekly until baby arrives.  My contractions have been mild compared to what they were before I got the medicine last Monday.

Lake, Home & Hospital (35 weeks)

We had a wonderful holiday week at the lake with Grams, Pappy, Aunt Katie & Uncle Jimmy!  I believe Addison will have more fun each year.  It's awesome to watch her take in the surroundings & be a curious little girl!  She will be showing Alyssa the ropes next summer!

Before we left for the lake we turned Addy's car seat forward-facing!  Now she can see where we are going!  I think she is equally happy forward-facing as she was rear-facing.

After our trip to the lake we stopped at Memaw's house for a couple of days.  It was another great trip & we got to spend time with Memaw & Papaw.  Addy & I had a dentist appointment, so it worked out perfectly.  This was Addy's second visit to the dentist & not nearly as pleasant as the first :(  She wasn't happy AT ALL!  The dentist was able to look in her mouth & determine that everything looks great though!

Yesterday I had an appointment at the hospital for a NST (nonstress test) & BPP Ultrasound.  Alyssa got a perfect score during the ultrasound for breathing, movement, amniotic fluid, etc.  The ultrasound was super long (30-40 minutes) & so fascinating to watch!  After the ultrasound I was sent up to Labor & Delivery Triage for the NST.  The nurse hooked me up to the machines & said she would watch the monitor for 20 minutes.  At 20 minutes she returned with a syringe & asked if I was feeling contractions. I told her yes & that I have been having Braxton Hicks for several days now.  She said they were 'real' contractions & gave me a shot of Brethine to stop them.  Holy crap!  She wasn't joking when she said the medicine would make me feel like my heart was going to beat out of my chest!  Luckily, after 15 minutes they stopped, so I didn't have to get another injection & was released to go home.  I go back to the dr Thursday unless the contractions come back & are regular.  I've been worried this whole pregnancy about being induced again & Alyssa being forced out before she's ready.  I never gave it a thought that I should be worried about keeping her in too!  Although at 35 weeks a baby can be born & require little to no additional treatment.  They are estimating she weighs around 5lbs 11oz right now & measuring for a due date of July 11.
