iPhone Withdrawal

Yesterday morning after I dropped Addy off at MDO, I also dropped my iPhone!  Eeek!!  It gave me the WSOD (white screen of death) & I almost cried!  Off I went to the local AT&T store.  Of course, there was nothing they could do there.  I had 2 options, go to Houston to the Apple store or just call Apple for a replacement.  HA, are you joking?  Waiting 2 weeks for a replacement WASN'T an option!  I went to Apple.com & made an appointment to visit the Genius Bar at the Galleria in Houston this morning.  It took about 10 minutes & I walked out with a replaced screen & most importantly, a working iPhone!

While we were at the Galleria, Blake wanted to check out some hats in LIDS.  Little did he know Addy would get something from there & he wouldn't (see pic below)!
No autographs please!

Perfect day for a wagon ride!

Addy & Elmo enjoying a beautiful day!

Addy didn't feel too good this morning & it showed!  Watery eyes, runny nose, oh my!

I forgot to post about the pregnancy one-hour glucose test that has to be taken to check for Gestational Diabetes.  Typically, the test is done from 26-28 weeks.  Go figure, my OB office does them 20-22 weeks.  When I questioned the nurse she just said they like to do them early.  Hmmmm.....  So, now I have to go one day next week for the test.  I pray I pass it!  I failed the one-hour with Addison & had to take the three-hour (passed it)!

Every night Blake or I sit in the rocking chair with Addy & read books right before bedtime.  Tonight while I was reading to her I noticed how big my belly is getting.  It's getting hard to hold her in my lap & read to her!  I'm going to have to figure out another way that makes us both happy & comfortable.

**21 weeks**

No ultrasound for me this morning at the OB :(  Boo!  They said since I just had one last Friday that another wasn't needed right now!  Whateva!  My $$$ & insurance is paying for a service!  Give me what I want!  LOL  Dr. M said next visit we'll take a look at baby again.  I lost count of the ultrasounds that I got at The Woman's Clinic when I was pregnant with Addison.  I know, I know, I'm not in Louisiana anymore.  Believe me, I know.  Everything is different in Texas!  Some good, some not so good.  Oh well!

I've gained a whooping 5lbs since last visit, so that makes a grand total of 6lbs I've packed on up until now.  Thank you Blue Bell ice cream.  Blood pressure is fine (112/63) & baby's heart rate is amazing.

I haven't been posting enough pictures of this little doll!  My goal is to do better!

Sometimes I get an open-mouth, tongue kiss & sometimes I get sweet puckered-up, lip kiss.

Very Random Post

I'm throwing out all of Addison's after watching this SEGMENT on the Today Show this morning!  Gross!

Addison is great at telling me 'bye' when I drop her off at MDO!  It cracks me up how excited she gets & starts waving to me.

Addison was watching Little Bill the other day (because I wasn't giving 100%) & saw he was wearing a hat.  She went over to the coat rack & started saying 'hat..hat'!

Blake felt the baby move last Friday right before the ultrasound!  This was the first time :)  The movements are just as incredible as I remember.

I have a routine OB appointment in the morning. Wonder how much weight I've gained so far! Surely, 3 bowls of ice cream a day will catch up with me eventually!

Okay, I've been trying to link a video in this post, but something isn't working! So, Google Darius Rucker - It won't be like this for long. Such a sweet, sweet song. Thanks to my neighbor for bringing it to my attention. It will make great background music to a picture slideshow.

Here is something that I've wanted to share for a while, but never got around to it.  For those that have ever been asked 'what did or do you do all day' or 'why didn't this or that get done today'?  What happened?  Well, I came across this gem in a BOOK I've been reading & just had to laugh out loud!

For instance, imagine you're sitting in your kitchen at your computer, trying to pay bills online while your toddler is entertaining herself nearby with toys.  About five minutes into your task, your child approaches you with a runny nose:

  • You see your child has a runny nose.
  • Before she can wipe her runny nose on your pants, you get up from your chair to get a tissue.
  • You return to the child and wipe her nose.
  • Now you see that the child's shirt is wet and messy, as are your fingers.
  • You remove the child's shirt.
  • You go to the kitchen sink to wash your hands.
  • The sink has dishes in it, so you rinse the dishes to put them in the dishwasher.
  • But the dishwasher is full of clean dishes.  You empty the dishwasher and then fill it with dishes from the sink.
  • You tell your child to play with her toys while you go upstairs to get her another shirt.
  • When you get upstairs you toss the shirt into the laundry room.
  • Passing the bathroom on your way to your daughter's closet, you realize you actually need to use the bathroom.  You do, and you use up the toilet paper.
  • You go to the hall closet and get more toilet paper.
  • You return to the bathroom to replace the roll.
  • The bathroom trash is full, so you grab the bag and replace it with another.
  • You go into your child's room to find a new shirt.
  • While there, you see that a sippy cup, full of milk, is in her bed, and that she's left her wet overnight diaper on the floor.
  • You put the diaper in the trash bag you're carrying. (Wow, that was efficient!)
  • You make your daughter's bed and gather the sippy cup.
  • On the way back downstairs, you catch another glimpse of the laundry room and realize you have enough dirty clothing to do a load of wash.
  • You open the washing machine to discover there's already a wet load inside.
  • You start to put those wet clothes into the dryer, but the dryer is full.
  • You pull the clean clothes out of the dryer and put them in a basket.
  • You put the wet clothes in the dryer.
  • You put the dirty clothes, including the yucky shirt, in the washing machine and start the washer.
  • Since you really don't have time now to sort the clean clothes, you leave the basket of clean laundry on your bed.
  • You return downstairs and search for your shirtless child.
  • You pass the sink, so you rinse the sippy cup and put it into the dishwasher.
  • You try to shove the bathroom trash into the kitchen trash container, but it's full.
  • You take the trash out to the garbage cans in the garage.
  • You come back into the house and put another bag in the trash container.
  • You find your child.
  • Her nose is running again, her face and chest now need to be cleaned, she has gotten into the bills and papers your were working with, she needs a diaper change, and it's lunchtime.
How much time did it take you to wipe that child's nose?  Fifteen minutes?  Twenty minutes?  A half-hour?  Imagine variations on this scenario playing out DOZENS of times a day.  Imagine that same scene, except with additional offspring in the house.  You don't have ADHD.  You have children!  Written By: Melissa Stanton

It's A GIRL!!!

Today was our appointment at Houston Perinatal for the Level II ultrasound.  My mom came to town yesterday, so she could watch Addison for us today.  Thank goodness appointments like this are few & far between.  Usually I try to schedule everything during MDO hours, but wasn't sure how long we would be gone today.

The ultrasound went really well & our little girl is growing just fine.  All measurements were normal, 4 chambers of the heart, kidneys, bladder, arms, legs, spine, head.  The heart rate was 150 & baby weighs about 13ozs.  I'm measuring right around 20 weeks.  WE ARE HALF WAY!!!!  Even though the ultrasound didn't show any soft markers for DS or abnormalities, we were still offered the amnio due to the blood test numbers.  Blake & I talked it over & decided to go ahead with it.  It was really a different perspective once we were there & talking with the doctor.  I'm not going to lie....I was nervous!  The thought of a needle being stuck in my belly so close to the baby scared the hell out of me!  I avoided looking at any of the utensils, needle, monitors, etc.  There was a monitor on each wall, so everyone in the room could watch the procedure.  You could tell they do this all day, every day.  The dr found a good open spot with the ultrasound & a nurse held it in place while the needle was inserted & fluid drawn out of the amniotic sac.  Blake watched the whole thing on the monitor.  There is no way I could ever watch that being done in person.
I need to scan the pics instead of taking a pic of a pic with my cell!

So after it was over, well, actually during the procedure, I started to feel warm & fuzzy (not in a good way).  I drank some water & rolled on my side for a few minutes.  Once I tried to get up & leave I realized I needed more time to lay there.  I guess it was just such an overwhelming experience AND it HURT, just made me sick.  Finally, I was ready to go & taken out by wheelchair.  We'll get the amnio results in a week or so.

Now, I'm just resting on the couch for the rest of the evening & can resume normal activities tomorrow.  It's been really hard not being about to pick up Addy & jump each time she needs something.  Blake has been awesome taking care of us though!

Sunglasses & Cadillacs

We had to go by TRU yesterday to pick Logan up a tricycle.  They have way too many to choose from, but we finally picked one!  Memaw also wants to get a car for Addison & Logan to keep at her house!  She's been talking about it forever & I keep convincing her to wait, wait, wait.  Addison can't even touch the pedals yet.  Well, that didn't stop us from sticking her in a Cadillac & getting a couple of pictures.  First, we put her in the black one & she just wasn't feeling it.  Her eyes were glued to the PINK one (maybe that's because she had on her Dora sunglasses)!  LOL  Memaw bought her a shopping cart after I failed to convince her NOT TO get it!  I'll have to get a picture today.  It took forever to put together & I'm still not sure it's done correctly.  How can something so small & simple looking have so many pieces?

Addison dressed herself yesterday morning!  She was all set to go to town!

Have I mentioned how much easier it was to be pregnant & sit at a desk all day than to chase a toddler all day?  WOW!  I miss my office & desk where I could prop my feet up & have a very productive day without moving.  Now I sit & prop my feet up every chance I get until Addison says it's time to get up & play!

Naptime & bedtime have been challenging since Addison doesn't have a crib here at Memaw's house.  It takes her forever to fall asleep with me in the room (if I left her in there by herself she would likely climb off the bed).  Then, I remembered her old pack n'play was here because we let Logan use it.  I set it up & it worked perfect!  I just put her in & she plays for a few minutes then goes to sleep!  LIFESAVER!

Logan's Birthday Party

My great-nephew, Logan, celebrated his FIRST birthday last week & the party was yesterday.  We all had a great time!  Logan is walking, talking, squealing, everything!  He knew exactly what to do with his smash cake.  My niece, Aimee, did a great job planning the theme of the party.  Everything was so cute!  Here are some pics from the festivities.

Blood Test Results

I got my blood test results this morning.  I'm anemic & have to start taking 2 prenatal vitamins.  This is common in pregnancy, since the baby is taking all of my Iron!  The average risk of Down Syndrome for my age is 1:203 & my results are 1:147.  These numbers are being taken with caution until further testing in Houston.  This is just all part of having babies later in life!
