Addy's 12 month well-visit

Today was Addison's 12 month well-visit & shots. She weighs 21.6lbs & is 29 1/2 inches long. There were 2 vaccines this time (MMR & Varicella) plus a TB test. We have to go back by the office on Friday to have her arm checked where the TB was done. She is napping now after her rough morning.


I asked the pedi about our risk of Swine or H1N1 flu & he said the most important thing to do is be vigilant about washing hands - thoroughly. Since Addy is teething & putting everything in her mouth we have to watch carefully when we're in public & also wash her hands often.

My throat still feels like I ate glass! If there isn't improvement tomorrow I will go to my regular doctor for a check-up. I don't have time to be sick!!

Birthday Party & Strep Throat

Strep Throat - I woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat, but just thought it was because we slept with the ceiling fan on the night before. Well, it was even worse this morning, so me & Addison went to the CVS Minute Clinic & the test came back positive for strep! It hurts like hell, but it's a great excuse to drink chocolate shakes from Dairy Queen several times a day - LOL!

The antibiotic that I am taking isn't breastfeeding safe, so this morning was the last breastfeeding session. I'm kind of glad that I didn't know it would be the last one though. I probably would have been stressed about it! Tonight should be interesting...

One Year Ago Today

A year ago today I went to the office for a couple of hours to tie up loose ends since I wasn't expecting to have Addison so soon! Next I got a pedicure, ate lunch with Erin & made sure everything was ready for our little girl to come home! Blake & I got to the hospital around 5ish & the party began!


Who says you shouldn't eat when you are in the hospital about to have a baby???

One Year Ago Today

A year ago I went in for my 38 week check-up & was diagnosed with PIH (pregnancy-induced hypertension). The doctor scheduled me to be induced the next day! I was scared & excited at the same time. When you think you have 2 more weeks (plus or minus a couple of days) you aren't mentally prepared to be rushed like that! I wanted Addison to keep baking until SHE was ready to come out instead of being forced. Sometimes, I wonder how the delivery would have turned out had I not been induced.... No matter what, the end result was a beautiful baby girl!

Yesterday, Addy fell in the bathroom & hit her mouth on the tub! When I saw the blood I knew it was bad :( I put ice on it & she went to sleep. She's doing great now. Occasionally, she will bite something that hurts her lip, but it's getting better.

This morning I signed Addison up for swim class at the local YMCA. It will start in June & last for 2 weeks with a total of 4 sessions. I can't wait!

She is walking better every second!

Cake, Walking, Crawfish & Goats

Yesterday morning we took Addison for her ONE year pictures. The photographer works out of her home & lives about an hour from our house. I think I held my breath the whole trip while watching the cake jiggle! Addy did great with the pictures! When it was time for the 'smash' cake she was hesitant at first, but quickly made a mess :) It was SO much fun watching her! I can't wait to do it again at her party! Here is a pic that I snapped with my cell phone: After pictures we went to a crawfish boil that was hosted by one of Blake's co-workers. It was such a yucky day from all the rain, but that didn't stop the party! Addy made a couple of new friends. One was a little 10 month old girl that had more hair than ME! Seriously, this baby has already had her first hair cut! She also got to see a 10 day old baby goat. A couple brought the baby goat because the mom goat died shortly after giving birth & the have to feed the baby every couple of hours. Here are a couple of pictures from our lunch at Peking last weekend. Addison is just 4 days older than Ethan. I can't wait to get them together again! It is so much fun to watch her with other babies her age :) WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING WALKING Addison can walk across a room now! Holy Crap! I will try & get a better video, but usually when she starts walking I am just amazed & not thinking about the camera :) Blake saw her stand from sitting without assistance yesterday, but I haven't seen that yet :(

Happy Friday

Addison is taking steps on her own now! Yikes! The most I've counted at one time has been TEN! I finally managed to get a few steps on video today! Enjoy :)



We had a few errands to run today, so decided to have lunch at Applebee's. The 2 for $20 deal is really great (and it includes an appetizer). Blake & I both ordered steak with an incredible Shrimp Parmesan topping. It was delicious! Addy flirted with the waiter :)


This evening I made Addy's 'smash' cake for her birthday pictures tomorrow. I hope that she will actually dig into it! Can't wait to see how it all turns out :) It is far from perfect, but I enjoyed making it.

Easter Bunny & Rambling

We are home from Louisiana! It was a wonderful trip. Too bad we had to leave so early on Sunday to get home for Buddy. The kennel has pick-up betweem 5-6 on Sundays & we won't leave him any longer than necessary. On our way out of town (10 a.m.) we stopped by to see my mom & found she had been up cooking very early so that we could eat Easter lunch! It was delicious - THANKS MOM!

Well, I think I'm in denial - my baby has been taking her first steps lately! My mission tomorrow is to get it on video. She has also started climbing on EVERYTHING! There isn't anything that she is afraid of - other than the vacuum! I've started feeding her more table food & Stage 3 Gerber. She doesn't mind the new textures at all, but I am a nervous wreck worrying about her choking! Does this pass??? I envision her still eating baby food in school! I've also begun the process of weaning. This is bittersweet for me! We are down to nursing at bedtime & through the night (yeah - she still doesn't sleep all night). I've been careful to follow her cues & if she is acting out or clearly upset because she can't nurse during the day then I give in. I know she will adjust soon.

Pictures at Biedenharn Museum

Yesterday, we met Casey & Avery at Biedenharn for a few pictures. Unfortunately, most of the lovely Spring flowers were already gone (we were about a week too late). We still got some great pictures, plus Addy & Avery got to visit for a bit.


After pictures me & Addy went by our house to check on things. Everything looks great - why doesn't anyone want to buy our house?? UGH! I thought by now that it would have sold :( BOO! Oh well, I guess we can pretend like that is our vacation home! LOL

Last night, we met some friends & 'watched' Idol (we mostly gossiped). So, who is the next American Idol? I think the top two will be Adam & Kris!
