Getting better

Addy is starting to feel better & so is mommy!  She's missing MDO again this week, but I'd rather not rush it!  I want her to be fully recovered before sending her around other babies.  I've tried to find games that doesn't require much activity.   She needs to save her energy to get well!

Here's a video of Addy calling out to her friend Maggie (our neighbor)!

I asked for a smile & got this.......

I'm growing every single day!  We don't have much longer to wait before we get to meet our new little girl.  She still doesn't have a name :(

Follow-up appointment for Addy

Addison still has the same ear infection from 2 weeks ago along with some congestion & of course the pneumonia.  The pedi doesn't think the rash is from any type of medication & believes that it's hives (urticaria) from the viral infection in her lungs.  How do you know who's right?  ER doctors or pediatrician?  I'm leaning towards the pedi since babies are her specialty!  She prescribed Singulair for the hives/allergies & Zithromax for the ear infection & chest congestion.  Our poor little baby!  She's had such a rough time the last couple of weeks.  I'm praying the worst is behind us now.  We go back for a follow-up in 2 weeks & should be able to do the well-visit then also.

Sick & tired of being sick & tired!

Well, let's see where to begin...

Wednesday we spent half the day at the dr with Addy.  Thursday she wasn't much better.  Friday the croup turned into a persistent cough - all day & all night.  At 2am Saturday morning I was up giving her medicine.  Then at 4am we gave a breathing treatment.  Twenty minutes later I called the nurse practitioner that was on-call for the pedi.  She called right back & suggested I do back to back Xopenex treatments 15 minutes apart, wait 30 minutes & see how that works.  Well, it didn't do much for Addy, so we went to the ER around 6:30am.  She was SO good the whole time!  From getting her temp taken to getting an x-ray!

Turns out the little birthday girl has pneumonia!  UGH!  The dr said it's viral not bacterial, so there isn't much we can do for her other than continue the breathing treatments.  While at the ER we noticed a little rash coming up, but the dr didn't seem to think it was anything to worry about.  He prescribed a narcotic cough syrup to help Addy get some rest & sent us on our way.

Saturday was spent napping off & on instead of throwing a birthday party for Addison.  As the evening rolled around the rash that we had noticed that morning was getting worse.  I called the ER & spoke to the nurse & she told us to come back for a re-evaluation.  Here we go again!  Everyone seems to think it's an allergic reaction to the Augmentin Addy had taken for her ear infection.  She took it for 10 days then on the 10th day she started the Millipred (steroid) & it may have suppressed the allergic reaction (we didn't give it to her Saturday morning as we had been since so much other stuff was going on at that time).  So, they prescribed Benadyl & more Millipred then sent us on our way once again!  The rash is MUCH better today & she isn't itching at all.
Here is a pic of the rash AFTER the Benadryl & steroid.  It was much worse & ALL OVER her body (except her back)!
Addison's well-visit is in the morning, but that will turn into a sick visit when I tell the pedi about our weekend!

Last night we cut into the cake since that was the only thing Addy wanted to eat!

This morning we celebrated Addy's birthday before Grams left complete with balloons & presents.  Well, I should mention that Blake said it was like the 12 Day of Christmas around here because Grams gave Addy a present almost every day she was here! LOL

Stay tuned for an update after tomorrow's appointment!

Our 'normal' life is gone again!

After spending 3 hours & $30 at the dr office today, I was told what I already knew....Addy has croup :(  She woke up yesterday morning barking like a seal & I cringed.  I started her breathing treatments in hopes to catch it early enough.  This morning she awoke with a fever, so I knew a trip to the dr was in order for a steroid prescription.  As of now the birthday party is still on for Saturday, but will know for sure Friday.

After going to a couple of bakeries for that 'special' Elmo cake, I finally found one that will create what I'm looking for!  The baker said she isn't supposed to draw Elmo 'free-hand' on cakes, but she's done things before that she wasn't supposed to do :)  YAY!  I can't wait to see it Friday.  Hopefully, it will look like the picture I left her.

It's been a busy week!  I'll try to get some pictures posted tomorrow (or tonight if our little seal wakes me up with her barking)!

Back to 'normal'

Well, life as we know it is finally back to normal.  It was a rough week, but we all survived the awful ear infection.  Addy is doing MUCH better.  She's sleeping all night again & her appetite has increased.

This morning we went to the park to feed the ducks & play for a while.  I guess Saturday is a bad day to feed the ducks.  It seemed like they were already full & didn't want anything to do with us or our bread!  Last time we went was during the week & they were all over us.

Shhhhh!!!!
No, she wasn't eating dirt.  The corners of her mouth consisted of chocolate Pediasure & the bottom lip was busted from falling down.

Oh, what a night!

Well, last night was just awful.  I'm not sure who cried more, me or Addy.  First thing this morning I made a dr appt & took her in for a check-up.  Turns out she has a good reason for being fussy = EAR INFECTION!  This is only the 2nd one she's ever had, so we are really lucky.  I should have taken her to the dr yesterday.  Next time I won't play the 'wait & see' game.  We got an antibiotic, cold/sinus meds & numbing ear drops.  I'm pretty excited about the ear drops.  The dr said that since it takes about 2 days for the antibiotic to relieve ear pressure the drops will make Addy more comfortable until then.

Addy weighs 28.4lbs & is 32 3/4 inches tall.  We will see the dr again in a couple of weeks for a 2 year well-visit.

Being a little doll while waiting to see the dr.
Pretending to sleep (I guess since she didn't sleep last night)
It's amazing how much the difference is between day & night with her right now.  During the day she is her normal self, but come night WHOA LOOK OUT!

Slide, Slide, Slide & Sleep, Sleep, Sleep

Maybe I should blame the new swing set on Addison's poor sleeping habits lately!  The past week or so has been really rough.  She wakes up multiple times & nothing makes her happy.  Well, except for Dora around 2am one morning & a brownie around 4am another morning.  Last night was the final straw.  After an hour of rocking, singing & reading I decided to take her to our bed.  I thought this would work for sure & we could all get some rest.  NOT!  After an hour in our bed she was still awake, so I put her back in the crib & kissed her goodnight & shut the door behind me!  I didn't even turn the monitor on like I usually do every.single.night.  She slept until her usual 7:30am this morning.  Maybe it's molars, maybe it's sleep regression, maybe it's nightmares, maybe she's trying to get me in a routine for when the new baby arrives, maybe there is no explanation at all.

On a good note..... This morning Addy took off her diaper & said pee-pee on the way to the bathroom (without me).  I heard her in the bathroom sitting on the potty talking to whoever would listen, so I went in to talk to her.  After a couple of minutes I heard something...YAY!  She really did have to pee-pee!  This is the FIRST time that she has went without being asked!  We had been taking a little break with potty-training since she seemed to lose interest, but now maybe she is ready to start back up again.

She learned a new way to get up the slide!
And didn't like it when I told her that wasn't the right way!

**26 weeks**

I've gained 8lbs in 4 weeks & my OB wasn't too happy about it.  I pointed out that it's been 26 weeks & I've gained a grand total of 13lbs!  UGH!  So to celebrate my weight gain I enjoyed a huge bowl of Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate ice cream with Hershey's Syrup!

Baby No Name has a perfect little heartbeat & seems to be growing just fine.  I'm not sure when the next ultrasound will be.  This OB practice seems a little more conservative with ultrasounds than the Woman's Clinic.  I think I had about 10 ultrasounds with Addison.  So far just 3 this time around.  Oh well, I'm just thankful that we are both doing great.

Another Video

Addison is having a WONDERFUL time playing on her new swing set!  It didn't take her long at all to master climbing the steps to the slide!  We still have to help her get in the swing & push her, but today I showed her how to lay on her belly across the swing & push herself with her feet. **No, I didn't physically lay on the swing & show her - LOL**

She's been talking for a while now, but lately silence can't be found at our house.  She's talking non-stop & repeating everything we say!  A few examples from the past couple of days:  I was brushing her hair in the mirror & told her she was such a pretty girl.  She in turn patted me on the back & said 'pretty mama'!  Today when I picked her up from MDO she told everyone bye.  Bye Kaci, Bye Paisley, Bye Easton, Bye McKenna!  The other day at the dinner table Blake was playing peek-a-boo with her & putting a napkin over his face & she said 'dada, I see you'!  I love this age (even the tantrums)!  She's the most incredible little person!

I have a routine monthly dr appointment in the morning.  Get weighed, pee in a cup, listen to heartbeat.  I'm 25-26 weeks now (depends on who you ask).  This heartburn is unbearable at times.  You would think since ice cream is cold that it would help give me some relief, but it doesn't!  Oh, and the preggo brain, well today was the second time in a month that I've LOCKED myself out of the house & Blake's had to come home & open the door.  I've made sure it doesn't happen again!

Happy Easter: Part I

Addison woke up extra early this morning - 6:30!  I was planning to wake before her & prepare her baskets, but that didn't happen.  Instead, while she finished breakfast with da da I went & fixed the baskets.  Her Easter morning breakfast was pancakes & sausage courtesy of McDonald's.  Isn't that what everyone has for breakfast on Easter morning?  LOL

Some of her goodies came from Memaw.  Although, Memaw probably didn't know that was my plan all along!

Addison got an Easter card from Grams & Pappy.  She loves getting mail!
She was really excited to see Elmo in the envelope!

Giving Elmo kisses!  *Notice this was originally a 'birthday' card, but Grams turned it into an Easter card!  She couldn't find an Elmo Easter card, so she made one!
