Co-sleeping Days are Numbered

I love, love, love sleeping with my babies.  I also love, love, love sleeping without them!  Addison has made the transition from the toddler bed into her BIG bed in the 'toy' room & the toddler bed has been converted back to a crib for Alyssa.  I'll start soon with Alyssa napping in the crib, then once she is weaned from nursing it will be naps & nights!

Spray Park

I thought the spray park hours changed during the summer.  The normal hours are 10-8, but I recall last summer it opened earlier.  This morning we got up & ready only to find the hours haven't changed yet.  It was 8:30 :(

By the time 10 rolled around Alyssa was ready for a nap, so we stayed home & hit the pool when she woke up.  They didn't care if we went to the spray park or stayed home anyway.  As long as water was around they were both very happy!

Successful First Day of Summer MDO

It started off rocky, but she had a wonderful day!  I was expecting her to cry when she saw me this afternoon, but no tears at all!  She kept telling me about everything she did & how much fun she had.  Whew!  Such a relief.  She's exhausted (no nap) & is having quiet time now.

First Day of Summer MDO 2011

I never got a schedule in the mail about when MDO would start & the planned activities.  Yesterday, Addy's old MDO teacher called to see if I had gotten anything yet.  Her daughter is also going to the summer MDO.  I told her no & she mentioned that it starts TODAY?  So, I called the director & was told that the new folks were left off of the mailing list, etc & she apologized.  If she wasn't taking care of my child I would have quickly let her know that my check for $$$ should be a nice reminder to send me information in the mail!

Today was western/cowboy day.  Have you ever searched for a stick horse or straw cowboy hat?  I went to 6 stores & called 2.  Nada!  Finally, found a stick horse at the 7th store, Dollar General.  I'm pretty annoyed about the failure to get a schedule ahead of time to plan my weeks out, but I'll let this be the one pass they get!

Addy was pretty excited about going to the new MDO & getting to take her new stick horse, Clara.

She wasn't very excited one we got there.  I know the first day is always the hardest.  All the new faces, new teachers, new environment.  It was pretty tough for both of us this morning.  I was sure to tell everyone not to hesitate calling me if Addy needed me.  I called about 30 minutes after leaving & the director said Addy was fine & playing with a puzzle.  I'm watching the clock until time to go get her.  Hopefully, she has a great day & won't be mad at me for leaving her!

Moody Gardens

There are so many attractions & things to do within an hour or two of us, but we never seem to make time for them.  I've started making a list of things we should do before this job is over & we move elsewhere.  We checked a place off the list over the weekend - Moody Gardens in Galveston.  It was SO much fun!  The Aquarium Pyramid was super nice, the Rainforest Pyramid was super hot, the Palm Beach area was closed, the Dora & Diego 4D Adventure was a blast!  We didn't make it to the Discovery Pyramid, but will next trip.

The aquarium was filled with penguins, sharks, seals, exotic fish, snakes, frogs & many other animals.  The rainforest had monkeys, birds, alligators & a butterfly house.  Did I mention it was hot in the rainforest?

This was Blake's expression in the HOT rainforest!

The Dora & Diego 4D show had special effects like when the plane takes off your seat vibrates & wind blows through your hair.  Also, if it rains or anything to do with water then a light mist sprays on you!  I knew this would happen, so I carried a blanket to cover Alyssa with during the show.  She was really into it the whole time, but would get a little startled when the cold water sprayed & got on her (I only had the blanket over her legs & didn't have time to cover her face).

We had packed our beach bag just in case we wanted to play at Palm Beach.  Since it was our first time there we really didn't know how long touring the pyramids would take & what the whole setup would be like.  The website has a lot of information, but you know there's nothing like seeing things for yourself.  It kind of worked out that the beach area was closed today, since we didn't have much time left after the pyramids & 4D show.  Next time we will go just for the beach!
