Facebook is stuck, so I will blog!

This morning Addy had her picture taken with the Easter bunny & it was a trainwreck, as are all of the pictures taken at Sears. Maybe she doesn't like the photographer or the smell of the closet where the pictures are taken or the smell of the photographer! We managed to get a couple of decent pictures, but she certainly didn't enjoy it! There was a lady with 2 little girls ahead of us (one was 11 months & the other was 3). This lady is also 16 weeks pregnant - yikes! Anyway, why do parents insist on torturing their children for a picture with a stupid bunny or even Santa? The 11 month old did fine, but that 3 year old was kicking, screaming, falling out in the floor - terrified of the bunny. FINALLY, the mom says "I don't care if she's crying, just hurry & snap the picture when I throw her to the bunny"! Are you kidding me LADY??? That poor child will be having nightmares about the freaking Easter bunny now. When Addy gets upset & I see she's done, then I remove her from the situation. After a few minutes we may try again, but never will I put her through what that little girl went through today. SO SAD!

My iPhone Success Story

Last Thursday while giving Addy a bath I dropped my phone in the tub! First, I know that the phone should not have been ANYWHERE near the tub & going forward it won't be! So, I pulled it out right away along with Addy & got her dressed. I began to blow dry the phone & pray. Suddenly, the screen lit up - it was my dad calling, but we couldn't hear each other. Okay, so maybe my phone isn't doomed after all. Then Blake called - same thing - we couldn't hear each other. I texted him & told him about the problem. Yes, every function on the phone worked except the speakers/mic! Still praying.... Later in the evening mom calls Blake's phone to tell me to put the phone in a bag of rice overnight to absorb the moisture. So, I did. Friday morning I was like a kid at Christmas. I ran into the kitchen, pulled the phone out of the rice, turned it on & called KJ. Ring Ring (I could hear ringing), she answers, I whisper "can you hear me?" AND.....................she said YES!!!!! Thank you Jesus, mom & rice! My phone is working fine :)

Addy is 11 months old today!

Happy Monthly Birthday my sweet Addy! Mommy loves you :)

Addy is 11 months old today & I'm not sure how I feel about us only being one month away from the big O-N-E! Talk about a bundle of emotions!

My angel is currently trying to put anything & everything in her mouth. I think it's at a peak. She tries to bite my knees, feet, hands, every toy, shoes, base boards, you name it & she has put it in her mouth! She got very close to Buddy's tail, but luckily for him, he is still a bit faster than she is :)

Hot Weekend

On Friday afternoon our air conditioner bit the dust. It made a loud noise & then we smelled something burning. The fire department came right away & inspected everything. Thank goodness we were home & able to turn the power off as soon as it happened. Addy had a wonderful time with the men in uniform! They gave her a cute little plastic hat & took pictures with her.

Our landlord came over with fans & a window unit to get us through the weekend until the a/c can be fixed. It's isn't too bad. At night we actually have to turn the window unit off!

On Saturday we had Spring pictures taken at a local park. Addy wasn't in a very good mood & I don't think she smiled for one picture. Of course, as soon as the camera was put away she was all smiles! Go figure! The pictures should be ready in about 2 weeks. After coming home from the photoshoot I started feeling sick. About an hour later I was hit with a stomach bug! I was completely worthless & Blake had to care for Addy. I've slept most of the day today. It was like the life was sucked out of me last night! UGH! I was supposed to go home today, but that isn't happening now. I don't want to risk passing what I have on to anyone else!

Saturday Happenings

Today we went to Beaumont to pick up my bridesmaid dress from David's Bridal. Addison was asleep, so Blake stayed in the truck with her while I went in to get it. The associate directed me to a dressing room, but didn't stick around to help me with the zipper! I put the dress on & opened to door to see if anyone was close by that could help me. There were 2 little girls, one was picking her nose & the other wasn't. So, I asked the non-nose picker if she could help zip me up & she happily agreed! When I got the phone out to take a picture they both asked if they could be in it too. I said of course - so here we are:

Now for some Addison updates. She is drooling like I've never seen her drool. It's seriously a mess & out of control. I'm guessing more teeth will be here shortly. She's also started grinding her teeth! I guess she just realized that she could do that & now it's her new thing. When I catch her doing it I try to give her a teether or distract her with something else.

How about some Buddy news? I have to Swiffer 11 times a day because Buddy is shedding like Addy is drooling. So, I end up with wet dog hair everywhere! Okay, I keed, I keed, about the wet dog hair. But, seriously Buddy has been scratching & shedding like never before. Blake took him to the doctor yesterday & they gave us some 'special' shampoo $20, some 'special' moisturizing spray $20, a shot $20, pills $20 PLUS we needed to pick up more heartworm pills! The doctor diagnosed him with - are you ready for this? - DRY SKIN! No Shit, ya think?? This morning I gave him a bath with his special shampoo & groomed him. Hope the shedding & scratching slooows down now!

Mistakes Happen

And I believe that is what happened at Addy's 9 month well visit. The nurse made a mistake when measuring her. The dr looked at her chart & said that she had only grew 1/2" between the 6 & 9 month appointments. So, today I stopped by the office to get her checked again. Today she weighs 20lbs 2oz & is 29 inches long. That's more like it!

She has started shaking her head 'no' when we talk to her & it's hilarious! She also said 'bubba' the other night. When Blake is talking to Addy he refers to Buddy as bubba :)

I forgot to mention the great deal I got today! The local Market Basket had rump roasts buy 1 get 1 free! Anyone want to come over for dinner :)

My mother-in-law told me about a place in Beaumont called Pei Wei. It's owned & operated by P.F. Chang's! I LOVE P.F. Chang's, so Blake & I decided to give Pei Wei a try. It was delicious! Usually we go to Chick-fil-A when we go to Beaumont, since there isn't one close to where we live. Now, we will always go to Pei Wei for lunch (at least until we find another favorite spot)! Why is it each time we go to Beaumont my sweet, beautiful little girl decides to have a blowout?? This time there was an extra outfit in the diaper bag :)

Addy's First Fair

Last night we took Addy to the local fair. I thought it would be fun to see her reaction to the lights, music, rides & people. She loved everything!

 

 

 

Thanks to my husband I was unable to enjoy a funnel cake with chocolate or a corndog with too much mustard! I am really trying to improve my diet by eating better. Of course, I tried to convince him that it isn't everyday you can get 'fair' food! He held strong & talked me out of it :)

Sad News

I just received a call from my friend, Paul, to let me know his dad was killed in a car accident last weekend. Unfortunately, Paul isn't a stranger to this type of tragedy. His mother was killed in a freak accident several years ago when we were in college. Please keep this family in your thoughts & prayers.

Sears

This morning was our appointment at Sears to have Addy's picture taken. They were having a special 'Fairy' theme today & tomorrow only (we signed up a month ago). When we arrived nothing was ready! All of the fairy skirts, wings, etc were all in boxes! UGH! This should have given me some indication that the photoshoot would be a bust & just go home. Of course, I stayed & waited on the associates to get their act together (the setup looked really cute, so I was hooked)! Our appointment was at 10:00 & we finally started the pictures around 10:30. Those of you with infants know that schedules are very important & 30 mintutes IS a big deal. Addy wasn't happy at all & I wasn't either from all the disorganization. Finally, I told the associate that we had enough shots & to stop. If any of you have ever been to Sears Portrait Studio, then you know that after the pictures are taken, you sit down to view/order. This can be challenging at times with a baby, but I managed as usual.

I select the pictures that I want & go to check-out. The associate tells me the total & I question her. Without going through the whole conversation again, she was basically charging me as if I wasn't a 'Super Saver' member (which I am). I purchased the Super Saver card last October for $10 which means a free 8x10 Monday thru Thursday, no sitting fees & a couple of extra perks. I mentioned that I had the card, just not with me. She said if I bought the card last year then it expired in December 2008. I told her I bought the card in October & asked when they started selling the 2009 cards. She said that they started in November or December. When I asked her if she was certain that they weren't selling the 2009 cards in October, she said yes. I didn't have my wallet with me, so I had her put my order on hold & I went home to get it. YES!!! I was right! That lady was trying to rip me off. I went back & showed my *2009* card! The total went from $50 to $18! I'm not happy with what happened this morning, but will likely go back again just because the pictures are decent & they are pretty cheap (if you don't let them sucker you in with all the extras).
